Petite Madeline Bakery Hand Painted Sign
Sign Design / Hand Lettering / Construction / Custom Cut & Finish
Did you know it takes three days to make a Croissant? Well, at Petite Madeline Bakery in Oceanside, California, they add love, labor and plenty of butter into their delicious Croissants.
The owner requested a way to illustrate to their customers the effort that goes into each one of their croissants. The solution was in maintaining their modern style and brand, while featuring the tradition and craftsmanship in the creation of every croissant.
Creating this sign completely by hand, was the perfect pairing of subject and presentation.
Using elegant maple hardwood, it was designed and cut to shape. To create an old world feel for the wood, it was hand distressed and finished with three coats of antique black stain.
The use of hand lettering immediately highlights the care and precision in each step of the actual croissant process. Adorning the crown of the sign, the Petite Madeline Bakery logo mark was added in their signature green.
Creating the photographs for the pictograph consisted of a detailed storyboard, prop design, wardrobe design and art direction. Combined with the talents of photographer, Robin Harris, the photographs brought a modern, crisp, sophistication to the design.
The finished photographs were printed on canvas at Giant Photo in San Diego. They were then hand stretched and framed by Jeanette. Beaded molding from Mission Molding and Wood Specialties in San Diego was painted and attached to add visual separations for the days.
A mix-up of old-world craftsmanship and modern-styled photography came together to create the perfect solution for this hand painted sign.
